1. General
“DST Competition” is software for organisers to time and evaluate events with the DotLine Sports Timing GPS light barrier system. The software generally works locally on the organiser’s device (e.g. tablet or laptop) and does not require an internet connection for timing.
The respective organiser is responsible for the participant data recorded in the software. The organiser decides which data to record and for what purpose, and informs the participants of the event accordingly.
2. Data processed
- Participant data: start number, driver, co-driver, vehicle, class and team; optionally the ID of an RFID tag
- Timing data: trigger times of the timing modules, split times, deviations from the target time, rankings and points
- Technical data of the timing modules: e.g. GPS status at the moment of triggering, battery level and error logs – without reference to persons
3. Local storage (default)
Without further settings, all data is stored exclusively locally on the organiser’s device. No data is transferred to servers of DotLine GmbH or to third parties. The organiser can remove the data at any time in the software or by deleting the application data.
4. Optional cloud storage – only with consent
The software offers the option of additionally storing event and result data in a cloud, e.g. for backup or for use on several devices. This function is switched off by default and is only activated if the user expressly agrees.
The legal basis is consent pursuant to Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR. Consent can be withdrawn at any time with effect for the future in the software; after that, no more data is transferred to the cloud. The lawfulness of processing carried out until withdrawal remains unaffected.
Where personal participant data is transferred to the cloud, DotLine GmbH processes it on behalf of the organiser. Cloud provider and server location: [please add]. Storage period: [please add].
5. Use of device functions (Bluetooth)
The software connects to the central module of the light barrier system via Bluetooth Low Energy to receive the trigger times. No personal data is sent to the modules via Bluetooth. On Android, the operating system technically requires the location permission for Bluetooth scanning; the software uses it exclusively to establish the connection and does not store any location data of the device.
6. No tracking
We do not use analysis tools (tracking) or advertising networks in the software.
7. Your rights
Participants in an event should first contact the organiser with questions about their data. Within the scope of the optional cloud storage, there are rights to information, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, objection, data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. We support the organiser in fulfilling these rights.
8. Contact
If you have any questions about the software or data protection, please contact us:
